Job Overview

As an HR Officer at IOM, you will be responsible for managing and executing various human resource functions to support the organization’s goals and objectives. Key Responsibilities

  1. Recruitment and Selection
    • Coordinate and manage the recruitment process, including job posting, candidate screening, and scheduling interviews.
    • Work closely with hiring managers to understand staffing needs and create detailed job descriptions.
    • Conduct reference checks and ensure a fair and transparent selection process in compliance with IOM standards.
  2. Employee Relations
    • Serve as a primary point of contact for employee inquiries and concerns, ensuring that issues are resolved in a timely and professional manner.

  3. Performance Management
    • Oversee the performance appraisal process and provide guidance to managers and staff on performance-related matters.

    • Provide support in salary reviews and compensation benchmarking.

  6. Compliance and HR Policies
    • Ensure compliance with IOM’s HR policies and procedures, as well as local labor laws and regulations.
    • Keep abreast of changes in labor legislation and recommend adjustments to HR policies as needed.
  7. HR Data Management and Reporting
    • Maintain accurate HR records and ensure data integrity.
    • Prepare and present HR reports, including staffing trends, turnover rates, and training outcomes.
  8. Workforce Planning
    • Support workforce planning initiatives by assessing current and future staffing needs.
    • Develop strategies to attract, retain, and develop talent in line with IOM’s strategic objectives.

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration, Social Sciences, or a related field from an accredited institution. A master’s degree or professional certification (e.g., CIPM, SHRM) is an added advantage.
  • Experience: Minimum of five years of professional experience in HR management, preferably in an international organization or NGO setting.
  • Language Proficiency: Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of additional local languages or French is desirable.

  • Proven experience in recruitment, employee relations, and performance management.
