'Secondary School Teachers Must Have Masters Degree' Taraba State Governor

CURSORY: The Governor of Taraba state Agbu Kefas has made a statement concerning the new teaching requirements for primary and secondary school teachers in Taraba state.

The governor of Taraba state Agbu Kefas has made a statement, concerning the minimum qualification for teachers in both primary and secondary schools.

He said that the National Certificate of Education (NCE) which has always been the requirements for teaching will soon cease to be the minimum teaching requirement in Taraba state.

He added that the minimum qualification for teaching secondary school will be a master’s degree and requirement for primary school teachers will be university first degree.

This he said with the aim of enhancing quality education for the children in Taraba state.

In his words: “In no distant time, primary school teachers in the state must be first degree holders while secondary school teachers must have a minimum of master’s degree to enhance the quality of education in the state.”

This information was made known on sunday, 7th of January 2024 at a dinner with journalist in jalingo by the governor. He also said that teaching of history will be reintroduced in his administration into basic education curriculum of schools.

“We are going to reintroduce History studies in our primary and secondary schools in the state to lay a solid foundation for accelerated development.”

He also urged journalist to ensure that the administrators of various schools were doing the right thing, and for them to monitor the free Education policy of the state in both primary and secondary schools.
