Mfana kah Gogo was born Sipho Mbonambi on January 6, 2002, in a village known as Zwelibomvu near Marianhill.
His grandmother raised him and other grandchildren. She and his biological mother supported his music pursuit with money and love. He received money from them to go to the music studio to work on his songs.
His stage name Mfana is an isiZulu phrase that describes a person fond of his grandmother. The name came from his friends and people from his village because they always saw him around his grandmother.
According to the young singer, his uncle made him fall in love with music and taught him many things about music. Sadly, his uncle, who dreamed of being a recording artist, passed away but drove Mfana to follow in his footsteps.
Mfana kah Gogo started to sing in church at a very young age with his grandmother, uGogo uMaMbonambi. He was in grade 2 when he began to sing in church.
Mfana matriculated from Fundinduku Secondary School. Though he plans to further his studies at a higher, he has more plans for music.
The artist, Mfana, shot to fame after his videos went viral on social media. In 2021, he dropped his first single, Jabula, and music lovers welcomed the song with open arms. A motivational track Hla’ethembeni followed the same year.
The level of success that came with the song Jabula came with collaboration requests. Some top artists in the country, like DJ Maphorisa and Major League DJs, wanted to work with him.
The song was about how the artist and his family endured hardship. He gives credit to his grandma, who did much for him and worked odd hours as a domestic worker to bring food home. His music manager is Romeo Ogle.
Mfana has started to get an invitation from other countries in Africa. He has received bookings in Nigeria, Mozambique, Botswana, Zambia, Zimbabwe, and other SADC countries.
The young singer entered a record deal with the label Durban Base Entertainment. The record label signed an exclusive licensing deal with Sony Music Africa.
To thank his mother for all the support and everything, he is building a house for her. She has done a lot for him and his sisters.
The house they had was too small. His mother did not approve of him to build a house at first since he was very young. Eventually, he was able to convince her to accept.
Mfana kah Gogo started from social media, where he dropped his works. On Instagram, he announces his new and upcoming projects. He allows a bit of his personal life, his massage sessions, and more.
Mfana kah Gogo is currently single. His favorite musician is Dali Wonga, while his most preferred actor is Masoja Msiza. His favorite music author is Gcina Mhlophe, and Your TV land is his favorite television show.
After landing a major record deal, Mfana Kah Gogo got involved in a car accident that almost claimed his life in September 2021. The tragic incident happened on a Friday on his way from signing a music deal with Sony Music.
The unfortunate incident happened when he and his team were returning to KwaZulu-Natal. But he is grateful that none of them got hot.
